XYG Window
XYG Window is a visual identity created for a design studio. The identity joins traditional Chinese literati art with modern simplicity. The name of the studio founder was deconstructed into strokes, then reorganized in the style of traditional seals. Decorative elements were removed, and the form was refined with grids and the Fibonacci spiral. The inspiration came from ancient Chinese seal script and from the window openings of the classical gardens of Suzhou. On the website, the positive and negative spaces, known as yin and yang, serve as navigation buttons.
XYG Window Visual Identity by Xinyue Guo was highlighted as an innovative representation of communication design by the A' Design Award. XYG Window Visual Identity earned the Iron A' Design Award in Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design in 2023. The A' Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design recognition program that celebrates exceptional design of logos, posters, infographics, brochures, packaging designs, business cards, book covers, billboards and more.
